It does suck up the pet hair, but the pet hair attachmen makes it dificult to manuever (sticky, almost). It makes a good car vac. Now the brush only turns on highest setting and suction is diminished. Spoke with Bissell customer "service" rep, who said he doubted what I told him about my never having to replace a belt in the first year with any vacuum I owned.
